5 inches horizonal and 3 1/2 vertical, however, the bag has a metal frame that has a mounting bracket that slides on this frame that makes it adjustable. You must have a rail to fasten the bag to which requires a 1/2 inch clearance from bottom of scope to top of rail and an inch of open rail to mount bracket.
If your ar has a carrying handle with open sights, this bag will not work. Your compete rail is in use and you will not be able to mount the bracket.
