It may be possible to fit a 18650 battery, but it may not operate correctly or efficiently.

CR123A batteries and 18650 batteries have a different outside diameter, so first before buying one, ask around to find someone who has one and try it out. THEN there is a slight length difference of the two CR123's versus the 18650, but that can be corrected by adjusting (gently extending the spring inside the light end cap until the battery is tight inside once the cap is tight). I RECOMMEND you first look at every other light you own and see if the CR123's would give you a compatible battery requirement such as can be used in other device's (Redundancy can be your friend and save you money) BEFORE buying any 18650's (but that is just me).
