There are many different models of the ACOG which are designed to work on AR15's chambered in 5.56. This Trijicon 4x32 ACOG Scope M4A1 Rifle Scope w/ Amber Center Illumination is one of the models designed for AR15's in 5.56. This Trijicon 4x32 ACOG Scope M4A1 Rifle Scope w/ Amber Center Illumination has a BDC reticle calibrated using 62 grain 5.56 ammo out of 16inch barrel.
Yes, the Trijicon 4x32 ACOG Scope M4A1 Rifle Scope does have built in backup iron sights.
Yes it can.
This will work, or you could use a magnifier and red dot.
A better choice in the Trijicon ACOG series is the TA11E ACOG 3.5x35 Scope w/ Chevron BAC .308 Reticle. Unlike the 4x32 ACOG Scope M4A1 Riflescope, the TA11E BAC is set up for the 7.62mm (308) ballistics (150gr FMJ std velocity). The M1A Scout Squad is designed for closer distance work, giving the TA11E high level of performance within the rifle's optimal design ranges. However, the TA11E is designed for about 1.5" eye relief, which does not permit the user to take advantage of the M1A Scout Squad rifle's forward picatinny rails and the quick point design of the rifle. For the rifle's design and build purpose, the iron sights are ideal for quick point ability. An extended eye relief optic could enhance the quick point characteristics of the rifle while sacrificing longer range precision. A long eye relief glass, with appropriate reticle, would strike the best balance. An ideal set up would be a long eye relief optic in no more than 4x with a No. 4 or No. 11 illuminated reticle.
it glows amber in low light areas.
The ranging reticle allows for bullet drop compensation out to 600 meters without any manual adjustments.
Yes it will work on a 20" barrel. The BDC of the reticle may be slightly affected due to the increased muzzle velocity of the projectile through a 20" barrel but not a noticeable amount.
