No, you cannot directly put a Glock 17 slide on a Glock 22 frame without modifications. The .40 S&W slide (G22) is made slightly wider and heavier to handle the higher pressure round. The 9mm slide (G17) is not made to sit properly on a G22 frame. While both guns use similar full-size frames, G22 frames have different locking block and slide rail dimensions to handle .40 S&W’s pressures.
