Yes it can fit the firearm. It could fit a magazine in there as well.

what is the difference in the inside pistol compartment dimensions of the Voodoo Tactical "Hide a weapon" vs. "Discreet" fannypack???

Both are the same size, the Discreet model does not have MOLLE webbing and features a more "natural" and less obvious look.
