We recommend medium height rings.

I just like to comment on ring heights for Savage Axis rifles. Although medium size rings are ideal for the scope as it sits upon the receiver, medium rings will not work due to the bolt handle not clearing the scope. I ran into this problem with a Vortex 3x9x40mm Crossfire II. I had to swap out a scope from another rifle with a 25 year old Leupold Vari xIII. These scopes only had an 1.5 inch eyepiece diameter and that barely cleared the Axis bolt handle. I would use high rings unless you can find a 1.5 inch eyepiece diameter scope.
