Are these the same physical size as the 8X28?

Yes, both the 8x28 and 10x28 Diamondback HD share the same 4.6 in by 4.5 in body dimensions; the only real difference is a slightly heavier weight on the 8x28 model, around 14 oz versus 13.5 oz for the 10x28.
