it says 30mm but would this work for a 40mm scope?

The 30mm refers to the diameter of the scope that you will be mounting, not the objective lense size. Most scopes are either 1" or 30mm in diameter.

You would need extra high height to allow for enough clearance.

Assuming you have a Winchester XPR, and a riflescope with a 30mm main tube and a 40mm objective lens, this is all you need.

Mounting hardware (screws) are included.
