JW's Review of 221B Tactical Tradecraft Tactical EDC/CCW Jacket 2.0 Only - Men's

If you appreciate pockets like me, you will love this jacket because there are tons of them everywhere. Sizing seems about right. I'm 5'9" 205 lbs and the XL was the better choice for me over the large due to the armor plates adding some bulk to my upper torso. The sleeves are a bit long for me but not terrible. The rear plate holder will fit a standard 10 x 12 soft panel but the front is meant for separate left and right plates of a proprietary shape. To address the missing ballistic coverage along the main zipper, they include a thin stuff sack pocket to allow you to insert a standard panel but it would be cumbersome every time you take the jacket on or off. The right edge of the pocket is sewn to the jacket, and the left side is loosely supported by a strap in the left chest pocket. But once you unzip and open the jacket to take it off, the left side support is gone and the plate is now flopping around and held in place only by the right edge. I doubt it makes much sense to use both the L+R proprietary panels in addition to a standard one piece panel due to the inevitable bulk. I will look to see if 221B will sell the proprietary panels separately since I don't like the idea of dealing with the flopping standard panel. I have not tested the jacket for waterproofness, but I don't think it is marketed as being waterproof, even though many of the pockets use waterproof zippers. Insulation is thin/minimal, mostly just a thin fleece layer. It is a very interesting jacket and the materials and fabric have a high quality feel to them.
