Army EOD, now business owner's Review of 5.11 Tactical COVRT Pistol Pouch 56972
My initial intention with purchasing this pouch was to have a way to concealed carry when IWB/OWB was not possible. Essentially it was my backup plan. What I got was so much more, and it’s become one of my preferred methods of carry. To highlight, I knew it came with a Velcro pad on the back (it’s the soft side of Velcro, btw) in case you want to attach it to a bag or secure it to something. What’s interesting about this pad is that it’s cut like molle so you can firmly secure it to any molle system you have. I personally use a bag that has molle on three sides and this pouch easily connects. If it was just Velcro attached there’s a possibility that it could tear off, but with some inexpensive molle clips it’s much more secure. Here’s my only recommendation for 5.11, include four molle clips with this pouch. So anyway I use this pouch a lot and no one has ever asked me what’s inside the pouch. A handgun the size of a Glock 43 with a +2 Pearce grip extension is about the limit on size. If you have the flat factory magazine baseplate it would be no problem. As for usage, I highly recommend you exercise the zippers and practice opening the pouch with the speed tabs inside. It works great once you get used to the side that’s best for your preference. There’s a left and right tab depending on your dominant side. Please note this is a two handed draw because one hand is ripping open the bag while the other is grabbing the handgun. It also has a smaller front zipper opening for carrying EDC items like extra magazines, flashlight, knife, wallet, money, etc. I have two G43 magazines with the +2 Pearce grip extension and they fit perfectly. To end this long rant, the quality of the pouch is very nice and just like the name indicates, it’s very much covert. Hope this helped.
