Eugene Moses Kalashnikov's Review of A3 Industries Modular Folding Stock w/ Picatinny 1913 Mount
I got this because I have one of their older versions (from when they were “A3 Tactical”) on my Stribog and I liked the way it locked in the folded position. Sadly, this new version does not lock in the folded position, it just swings open which makes it pointless to attach a sling to it.
Also, the way the 1913 hinge attaches is a poor design in my opinion. Instead of a clamping design with a lug/crossbolt, you fill a 1913 slot with a tiny steel piece, slide the mount over the 1913 rail and tighten two tiny set screws (2mm hex) which pulls the mount away from the rail. My problem with this is the entire engagement relies on two tiny set screws for both vertical and horizontal forces. If you have to mortar your gun to clear a malfunction, you’re essentially hammering on the set screws and their tiny bit of thread engagement.
I still like the aesthetics, it works and is modular but I wouldn’t recommend it for serious use
