wildcatgoal's Review of ACCU-TAC BR-4 G2 Arca Spec Bolt Action Bipod

I have tried this Accu-Tac, the Atlas PSR, and the Warne Skyline with my 15 lbs. PRS rifle. The Accu-Tac is superior in almost every way. The build quality is best. The leg height actuation makes sense and is very easy. The lock down levers are adjustable and both of them actually lock down hard. The legs seat forward from the actual mount on the gun's rail for added stability (the other two aforementioned have the legs directly below the mount). The only downside - and effectively a deal breaker for some - is that moving the leg position from 45 to 90 to 45 is EXTREMELY difficult. You have to yank the leg downward against a very stuff retaining spring meaning you'll need to provide counteraction to the gun itself. This is next to impossible to do quickly and cleanly behind the rifle, especially on the trigger hand side. It's a clever design that was probably necessary to get around patents, but it doesn't work well in practice. If you are someone who picks a position before you go to the firing line and sticks with it, you'll be fine. The only other "downside" to this is that the legs touch the ground wider -- wider than a railroad tie and dangerously too wide for a car tire, both of which are props in PRS matches quite often. That width, though, gives it better stability.
Pros:
  • Weight
  • build quaity
Cons:
  • leg height adjustment
Best Used for:
  • Prone
  • PRS
