Doc Solammen's Review of ACCU-TAC Fc-4 G2 Bipod

If you're serious about shooting, Accu-Tac is THE bipod. By way of comparison, the FC-4 G2 I just acquired makes my old Harris and Atlas bipods look like toys. By every meaningful metric--engineering, materials, function, durability--the FC-4 G2 is eminently superior to the aforementioned. Even Warne's superb Skyline bipod--which I own in duplicate--falls well-short of the FC-4 G2's robustness and stability. Bipods, like rifles, are mission-specific tools. While slapping an Accu-Tac F-Class bipod on a Ruger 10/22 or CMMG Banshee may sound cool, doing so falls within the province of idiocy. The FC-4 G2's heft befits large, hard-hitting rifles. I've mated mine to an LWRC REPR chambered in 7.62-NATO--with which it pairs well. Anything smaller, in my opinion, would be counterproductive--after the fashion of saddling a PCC with a thirty-power scope. One final thing: the lovely carrying-case in which Accu-Tac ships the FC-4 G2 is important insomuch as the bipod's design effectively precludes its being left attached to a cased firearm. Unless you're toting your rifle around in a casket, be ready to de-mate the FC-4 G2 and carry it separately.

Cons:
  • Expensive but worth it.
