Sara's Review of AccuBow Training Device
The Accubow looks & feels more like a real bow than any other archery trainer. Unlike a real bow, of course, it can be dry-fired (i.e. fired safely without an arrow). This means I can use it in my small home, where I can not set up a practice range. Rather than a bow string, it uses a resistance band, which can be tightened to my let-off weight. I added some weights and a wrist sling, to give it more of a "real bow" feel.
It comes with a laser pointer, mounted on the front, for aiming. This is a good idea in theory, but has a design flaw. It is mounted dead center, on the front of the bow. So if you shoot with one eye closed, you can not see it, at full draw. I found a work around for this. Using some Wrap N Strap cable ties, I mounted it on the side, where my sight scope would be.
The instruction book has a page that looks like a 5-spot target face. They suggest you tape this to a wall, to aim at. I scanned it, printed a copy on photo paper and laminated it. I hung it up with blue painter's tape, so it will not damage the paint on my walls. That works very effectively.
Finally, I should mention that this can be used with or without a mechanical release, so it is good for both compound and recurve shooters.
