David's Review of Accurate-Mag AICS Long Action .300 WM SSSF Magazine
The old 3.850-length magazines had a unique follower (and were great), but the new magazines use the same follower as the 3.715-length magazines. The shorter length and 'universal' shape allow the follower to tilt/move excessively. In my 300 PRC Bergara, the movement causes failures-to-feed unless there are at least 3 rounds in the magazine. The failure occurs every time; it is impossible to feed the last two rounds from the magazine into the rifle by running the bolt.
I spoke with Accurate-Mag on the phone ~6 weeks ago; they stated the 'universal' followers were a cost-cutting implementation and not a mistake (initially I thought the 3.715 follower in my 3.850 mag was a mistake at the factory). Accurate-mag asked for an email with photos and a detailed description of the issue. I sent an email that day but never heard back.
I hope they revert back to the old followers, even if the price goes up a few dollars.
Don't buy 3.850 length Accurate-Mags until the design is fixed!
