Bishop's Review of ADE Advanced Optics Valkyrie Green Dot Sight

This ADE Red Dot is a happy surprise. I’m pretty much a Vortex and Holosun fan. I have a Viper mounted on a Beretta PX4 using a Sight Mount Picatinny dovetail rail. The Vortex is a simple single dot and a fairly dated design. First I found a Cyelee model that interested me. It had a bigger window, a more interesting variable dot and the shake to awake feature that I really wanted. I removed the Viper and installed the Cyelee. Since I also had a sighted in laser on on the Beretta, all I had to to do for my zero was to move the dot straight down to match the laser. Windage was dead on already. Unfortunately, since the red dot sight sits up kind of high because of the Picatinny, the Cyelee did not have enough adjustment available to match the laser dot. Disappointed, I removed the Cyelee. It could have been perfect.

I also had this ADE sitting here waiting to be reviewed. I wanted to mount that on something different and use a ADE 3x magnifier with it. Like the Vortex, this WolfCovert model featured a single red dot, but it was a larger 6 MOA dot. It also had a larger window and the shake awake feature. First I had to install the 1632 button battery by opening the cover with a TX 10 driver. It was a simple process without any unpleasantness. Two batteries are in the box. I then mounted it easily as it came already attached to a Pic rail adapter. I was pleased to see that this adapter had springs in the clamp like Vortex products do. I was very happy when I was able to align the dot with my laser dot.

I have done a thorough visual and tactile examination and comparison of all three red dots. Turns out, I think I like this ADE best . It has the largest and clearest optics of the group and the only one that doesn’t have a bluish tint. I like it’s large, clearly engraved zeroing adjusters. It also has the easiest battery change. I just think I wish that it had the variable circle dot like the Cyelee. The ADE appears to be a good thoughtful design, well made out of good materials. I find it surprisingly inexpensive, half the price of the others. I have yet to test it under recoil. The low price tends to make me uneasy about longevity. Time will tell and I will update if I have more to report.
