Great recoil reduction, poor durability - VG6 Precision Gamma 556 EX

I was very excited about this brake when I first got it. Looked great, reduced recoil and muzzle rise very nicely. I have it permanently attached to a 14.5" barrel. Pinned and Welded. After about 1500 rounds and about 7-8 months of casual shooting I have now noticed that the baffles are worn away in a cone shape to about 25% of their original thickness. I contacted VG6 and sent them a picture about this and they responded saying that "due to the shorter length of your barrel" the brake is wearing at a normal rate. And they also said that if my barrel was 16" they would expect it to wear "tens of thousands of rounds" I don't know if that is the case or not. The problem is that if the barrel was 16" I would not have to have the brake permanently attached. I am not very happy about having to remove the hand-guard, drill out the pin, and re-pin and re-weld a $80 muzzle device every 8-12 months and only around 2000 rounds. They should have a disclaimer about this, I would not recommend this device to be permanently attached to a barrel. durability
