Defective ammo - Aguila Ammunition High Velocity .22 Long Rifle 40 Grain Copper Plated Lead Round Nose Brass Cased Ammunition

I have used this ammo for a few range sessions. I bought a new Smith and Wesson SW22 pistol and had an incident during the first use where the head/rim of the round was sheared off, and the round caused powder and brass case fragments to bounce off the range wall and hit me in the face causing some minor bleeding. I thought it was the pistol and had a gunsmith verify that the remains of the cartridge case were stuck in the chamber. This incident also broke the extractor on the pistol. A month later, my GF had the same thing happen to her while using a Ruger MARK IV but no injury to her or the pistol. The lot number is 06DR01A. Given the same case failure with two different pistols (with clean chambers and barrels), I would definitely not recommend this ammo.
