Kyle's Review of AIM Sports AR Carbine Length 2-Piece Quad Rail w/ Extended Rail

I got an M&P Sport 2 as my first AR. So not knowing how I wanted to modify it to fit my needs, I bought this to get me by until I know which direction I want to go, and because the factory plastic guard just doesn’t cut it. Another review a fella stated it doesn’t fit a sport 2 and he is right unless you either remove the iron sights or machine a slot in the front bottom rail due to a clearance issue with the bayonet lug. But the real issue is for the sport 2 at least, they built the rail upside down, Originally I thought I put it on upside down but when I went to turn the rail over and reinstall it, it would not fit because only one half of the rail had a slot built into so that it would clear the gas tube. If both halves had the same slot, it would fit perfectly around the front sight and bayonet lug. I wish I could post pictures to show what I’m trying to explain. With a drill press, drill bit, vise, and rotary tool I made a slot in the front lower rail to clear the bayonet lug, which only took about a half hour. The next issue I noticed that the front lower rail wasn’t on the same plane as the rear lower rail when it was bolted on, so I had to find some 1/4” tall tube spacers that would bring the front lower rail on the same plane as the rear lower rail. So long story short, if you have the means to modify this rail you can make it fit a sport 2 relativly easily. Despite all this I’m happy with it, at least for what I paid for it.
Pros:
  • Cheap
Cons:
  • Has to be modified to fit an M&p Sport 2
