Humpy's Review of Aimtech See Through Scope Mount for Remington

My first Aimtech Second Sight was for a Remington 7615 and I thought it looked rather unique so I ordered one and it is one of the best and without a doubt the most rugged iron sight system you can get. As a former Small Arms and Ammunition Test Director at Aberdeen Proving Ground I did testing on a number of weapons systems which included drop tests impacting on the Fire Control (FC/sights) and dropping a rifle from five feet onto concrete can do major damage to the FC.

There is a course of fire for Combat Simulation shooting wherein you are required to hit a 6" paper plate at 25 yards in 1.5 seconds. Time is started with a beep and time stops at the shot and if the recorder indicates the time to fire was longer than 1.5 seconds it is scored a miss.

This is the only FC I have used that I have been able to achieve the hit in 1.5 seconds or less.

I was so pleased with it I ordered another to go on a Marlin 336 lever gun and I have just ordered two more Aimtechs for Marlin 336s.

In reality at ranges of 25 yards or less the chances are of your needing a accurate shot PDQ is quite high and this is the sight. Mine mount so straight that if I can see the target up close I just pull the trigger because I know I will get a hit.

I have verbally told folks about these for last six years and have no reservation in recommending the Second Sight as reliable/durable.

If I had a son going to Afghanistan I would want him to have two things on the M4, a Aimtech see through and a M16 bipod (yep the original issue from the 60s).

Get a pack of 6" paper plates and a speed timer and four or five rifles and conduct your own testing for speed vs time and you should immediately see the what I mean.
