Timothy Hudson's Review of ALG Defense AK 47/74 Drop-In Trigger Enhanced with Lightning Bow

Let's face it...an AK-47/74 is not a scalpel but more of a hatchet. When a hatchet gets dull you swing it harder and it will amputate limbs with no problem. I installed this precision trigger on my Arsenal SLR-104FR and it dropped in with no modifications to my rifle or the trigger and hammer trunnions. I use a Krebs Custom safety selector and the included roll pin was not required on my rifle. I chose to install the included auxiliary trigger spring which was a bit tricky but if you are confident to disassemble and reinstall your trigger group without adult supervision you will be able to pull this off with no problem. The first thing I noticed when doing the first function check was at how crisp this trigger is compared to the US/Bulgarian trigger that came with my rifle. There is a noticeable reduced amount of take-up prior to the trigger breaking when compared to what you are used to but you will quickly incorporate this into your trigger squeeze. As I stated in the title, this trigger is $20 or more than a Tapco G2 (which is a very respectable trigger) but I am very pleased with how easy it was to literally "drop-in" to my rifle. Consult the ALG website for recommendations before installing this trigger into your AK variant.
Pros:
  • Noticeable improvement over stock trigger
  • Did I mention how crisp it breaks??
Cons:
  • Pricey but worth the investment
  • Can be a little tricky to install
