pyratio's Review of American Defense Manufacturing Cantilever ACOG Base

this is my 3rd american defense mount. The other two are for a trijicon credo and an eotech. Adjusting these mounts for your pic rail is super easy and super fast. Once tightened down, which doesn't even require tools, these things are rock solid. Adjustments are done by squeezing the spring loaded mount parts together and using your finger, simply rotate the nut until you feel it snug, then test lock the QD lever. don't make it too tight as you may damage your pic rail. Engagement of the QD should be stiff but should not require a ton of effort. Both of my other mounts have had over 1000 rounds and the QD is still locked tight. No chance of losing zero if you are clamped down tight. Return to zero is super reliable especially on my Credo. The quality and craftsmanship on these QD mounts is VERY HIGH. My only complaint is that they built this only to clear the Magpul pro series of backup iron sights. I knew this but wanted a more rearward mount for my ACOG. Moving my troy sights to in front of the mount was no problem and works just as good. If ADM could change one thing I would say build them a little higher as a lot of people do not use the Magpul Pro sights. Also in a pinch you can mount a Primary arms prism optic to this which will allow you to install 2 out of 3 bolts as the primary arms also uses Acog mounts. It's not perfect, the ADM mini-acog mount is more ideal for Primary arms prisms. There is a titanium version with more narrow levers, but I like these wider QD levers for my big fingers. Plus only the levers are titanium, the rest of the mount is still aluminum. Overall I'm very happy with this mount and anytime my friends borrow one they are very surprised at the quality and return to zero. Yes it is pricier than cheap Amazon mounts, but I have experienced QD mount failures and loss of zero with those cheaper products. Here you get what you pay for, and that is a mount that always returns to zero when you unmount and remount your optics and it is also rock solid tough. Think about how much you spent on your optic and all the ammo you spent to zero it. Why would you cheap out on the ONE THING that connects it to your weapon? ADM ties it all together great.
Pros:
  • tough and reliable
  • allows for rearward mount
  • returns to zero everytime
  • will also fit Primary Arms prisms
Cons:
  • Will only clear Magpul Pro sights
Best Used for:
  • ACOG optics
  • Testing optics on various weapons
  • removal of a failed optic and switching to irons
  • prism optics
