I used the Ameriglo tool made by MGW for the first set of sights that I ever changed. I later purchased a universal tool from another supplier. While I have used the universal tool to change several sets of sights it is an absolute pain to use and difficult to install without damaging the sights. Going back to the Ameriglo has proven that quality of the workmanship and the ease of use definitely makes it worth the price.

Nice product. Not flimsy at all very sturdy. This sight pusher was easy to use and to adjust sights after install. Being as I live in Los Angeles its impossible to find a gunsmith. So with multiple M&P's it was easy to justify the cost. It made finishing up my Apex upgrades a breeze. My ameriglo I dots went on like butter and the fine adjuments were just as easy. I didn't even need to place it in a vice. Just did them on my coffee table where I opened the box while trying to figure out how to use.

This sight tool is of very high quality and seems heavy duty, very easy to use. I have a couple of "universal" sight tools, that work ok, but are a lot of trouble to set up and get exactly right. This tool is for the M&P pistol, not the shield, just follow the directions the first time you use it and you likely will not need to look at them again. For the rear sight you use it as it comes, for the front sight, you remove a small spacer. The tool uses the frame rail slots in the slide to position the slide in the tool and lock it in place. You then turn the handle to move the sight. You can make very precise adjustments. If you are removing the sights completely be aware that the sight slots are tapered remove them from left to right, take them out towards the ejection port side. Install them from right to left. Do not forget to loosen the allen head lock screw on the rear sight before adjusting/removing. Seems like a lot of money if you only need it once, but I am very happy with my purchase. I have use the tool on the full size and compact with standard sights.I have not used with the 5" barrel M&P or with the suppressor sights.
Pros:
- Ease of use
- precise adjustment

I purchased the Ameriglo to change the sights on my MP 9mm. I bought some TFX truglo sights and called around for gunsmiths to change. Prices ranged from shaddy $25, leave weapon and we will call you later when done to $50. I ended up buying two sets of sight for both my MP compact and full size. The Sight tool made it ease to take off both front and rear sights on both sight weapons. I received an Ameriglo different than what is pictured. It only had one slot for sights, no single small fro front. Yet it worked perfectly. No excessive pressure needed in turning the t handle. Later after admiring the night sights which I also recommend due to easy target acqusition, I also purchased a trigger kit from Apex. So once again had to use the sight removal to change some components in slide. Best tool to have for these type of projects. Worth the investment, also to one of my friends about it and he's looking around for night sights so he don't have to chase gunsmiths around.
Pros:
- easy to use
- worth while investement
Best Used for:
- sight changes
- Trigger modifications

I had been employing the vise and punch method of installing sights on my M&P for the past couple of years which worked ok, aside from marring the sight. I finally broke down and bought this since I was installing a tritium sight and didn't want to risk breaking the vile. It is easy to use, doesn't damage the sight and it was great being able to adjust the sight left or right tiny amounts to center it. Also...it worked on my Glock 26 rear sight which was an added bonus!
So at over $100 it might be hard to justify but when you factor in that it will keep from damaging expensive sights and works on more than one make/model of gun, it really is fair.
The tool itself is very well made, it is solid and tolerances are tight.

I like the M&P and have several, including an M&P Pro I shoot in competition. While the tool works great on standard 4.25" M&Ps, the 5" slide of the pro leaves the front sight sticking out beyond the front of the tool. I changed the stock sights on my wife's standard fullsize M&P for TFO's, and it couldn't have been easier. Pop them off, Pop them on. However, the regular M&P and the M&P Pro utilize the same frame, and same guide rod and recoil spring. What this means is that the part of the slide below the muzzle that retains the guide rod and recoil spring is 3/4" longer on the pro. This metal part hits the tool and leave the actual sight about 3/4" in front of the RAM.
The other thing I thought was odd, is that, according the instructions, the proper orientation of the tool is to have the lettering facing AWAY from you. So, the way to tool is pictured is actually the back of the tool. While it didn't affect function, it is just odd to hold the tool with no lettering towards you.

This product seems like a great product and appears easy to use. Unfortunately, it does not fit ALL M&Ps as specified in the description. The Shield slide is too narrow and will not fit into the tool slots.
Pros: Heavy duty
Cons: Does not fit M&P Shield.
