CF's Review of Apex Tactical Specialties Action Enhancement Trigger for the S&W M&P Shield 2.0

I was extremely excited to get this product. I have heard nothing but great comments about this product. I have watched countless YouTube videos of the performance of this product. I found an install video done by Apex Tactical. I followed the directions of the video to a T.
In the video the guy uses a vice to set the pin through the trigger bar. No big deal at all I thought. I put the trigger in the vice just like the guy did. Instead of it seating the pin it crushed the one side of the trigger closing the gap where that the trigger bar sits in.
At this point I figured I ruined the trigger. I am a sheet metal mechanic by trade and have lots of tools and was able to open the gap back up after about an hour and half of working on it. but it left the inside of the trigger marred up pretty good. I was able to smooth that out with a jewelers file but who knows if it really cleaned it up enough.
So now that I have it back to where the bar free float again. I had to deal with a preset pin that would not budge. I ended up punching out the pin. As you can see in the photo the pin stick out the left side of the trigger. That is the side that the pin exited after punching it out. I beat on that pin really hard with a 16oz hammer. I probably hit it no less than 20 times before in came out.
After that I was able to insert the bar and then punch the pin in through the right side of the trigger and was able to drive it completely into place. Now that its set in place It seamed to function okay. I reassembled the gun and tested the trigger. It does not feel smooth in any way shape or form. I am left un-impressed with the trigger and honestly don't know if I would ever buy another one. I feel in my own opinion that the factory 2.0 was better. I will say that the take up and wall is more defined but the take up is not as smooth as the stock 2.0 hinged trigger.

I don't know that I could recommend this product in all honesty. I want to. It definitely improved the amount of travel the trigger uses. But, I feel at a cost that in my opinion was not worth the money and aggravation.
Pros:
  • looks good, take up is improved, defined wall and reset
Cons:
  • gritty and not as smooth as stock trigger
