Having used the latest and greatest Gen 3 and filmless autogated night vision in the service, I am spoiled on night vision to the point where Gen1 is totally useless to me. But,being a disabled vet, I dont have the funds for even Gen 2 night vision. The only choice left to try out was the Armasight Spark.
After looking into it, I noticed that the Spark, thanks to it's CORE technology, had the same resolution as most Gen2 and Gen2+ devices, and it is one of the few, if not the only budget device that is as versitile.
It can be head mounted, weapons mounted, hand held, or mounted to a camera. And, it has alot of accessories that increase its versatility even more, such as the 3x and 5x magnifiers, standard and QD weapons mounts, scope mounts, camera mounts....and the list goes on.
I have had mine for about 6 weeks so far and have no complaints. The resolution is outstanding, and it does not have the fish-eye effect of all other gen1 units. I use mine for varmint and pig hunting as well as night tactical shoots. When using the device mounted on the headgear, in conjunction with an IR laser, 200 yard shots are no problem with propper illumination, whether it be natural ambient light or an IR illuminator.
I have allowed a couple friends to play with the Spark as well, both of which are purchasing one for themselves.
I am seriously impressed with the value.
One added benifit is that the controls mirror that of the military's PVS-14, which makes it a very easy transition for people familiar with the 14, but unable to afford one.
Overall, a great product, and I look forward to purchasing more great Armasight products.
Pros: Gen 2 resolution!
