The whole "thing" about CR123 batteries is "shelf life" (10 years). These sit on a shelf quite handsomely, and just the right building block size to stack with ammo. By the time I get around to using a pair of these up, let's hope the technology has moved on, and we don't care anymore. These are a good balance between price and performance. It's a little weird paying extra for something to sit on a shelf, but what are you going to do?
