Ed's Review of Atlas Bipods Standard Two Screw 1913 Rail Clamp Bipod

These bipods are solid with functionality and adaptability second to none. They are pricey but you get what you pay for. This bipod provides a great foundation for steadying your rifle for well placed shots. I love the different positions you can lock the legs into, either forward or backward. Leg extensions work well and are easy to manipulate. This particular model requires a Picatinny rail on the bottom of the forward handguard but does not come with a quick release setup. Since I don't swap bipods between rifles, I don't need the more expensive model with the QR. I also have Harris bipods and they are a great piece of kit......the Altas bipods are even better. I do own other Atlas bipods so this is not my first rodeo with this product. The newer models have additional features but from my experience I can't justify the exorbitant cost between those and this older model described in this review. In fact, I think the newer generation of Atlas bipods are way overpriced since the added features are NOT revolutionary over what is already included in their older model bipods. I will purchase more Atlas bipods (older model) soon because I believe they will stop production and only offer the far too expensive new models.

On a negative note, I ordered this bipod from Optics Planet around mid-December. I have yet to receive it and I was never informed it was not in stock when the order was placed. When I went back to check my order online, I discovered that my order was expected to ship in 2-3 weeks. It is now 22 Jan (almost 5 weeks later) and I continue to wait for a shipping notification. I called OP customer service on 20 Jan to get a status and was told they were expecting an order that day and that my bipod should ship next week. Time will tell.....

I will say that I have ordered from OP in the past and have never encountered these long delays so I hope this is an anomaly.
