A review for airsoft and paintballers - ATN Viper Night Vision Monocular with Head Gear Mount

When I first recieved this device, I was estatic to use it, just like any other guy with a new gadget. When in use, I hate to say this but in some situations your normal eye night vision would rival this device. The IR illuminator does stey on and the only way to turn it off is 1- cover it or 2- unscrew the IR light. The IR light itself IS visable and has gotton me caught in a few situation in airsoft and paintball. The range of the IR is very short. Best suited to use in a more urban enviroment to have the best contrast with targets and enviroment. In an urban enviroment with little ambient light, is were this device preforms the best. Head mount is EXTREAMLY nice to keep hands free for alternative use. If your looking for a quick fix to rival another team or back yard night games, this device is perfect and I do recomend it. If you would like to see further for more of a recon role, I HIGHLY recomend you save your money, wait and invest in Gen. 2 NVGs. That is a decision I wish I would have made and regret not doing.
