Most Helpful Positive Review Golden Eye, more than a toy
The Golden Eye is a wonder in a small package. It's easy to use and easy to carry along. I was a bit disappointed in trying to focus it however. So much hand power was required to turn the focus wheel that it was difficult to hold the Golden Eye on the target which I was trying to focus. While I did get much use in spotting with the Golden Eye, I much prefer the Brunton 7X18 Echo Pocket Scope Monocular, ECHO7018, which I would rate higher than the Golden Eye. Pros: ease of use, light Cons: lens fog, focus wheel stiff and hard to adjust

James Bond Toy

by Legacy Reviewer, from WA, United States Written on September 8, 2009
i bought mine back in 99 after wanting one since seeing it, being a gadget freak and all.

It's an amazing little optic - a little awkward to hold - a wire ring holder that you could attach to it would make it a lot easier to hold and use.

I fashioned a custom case from a wacky noodle and electrical tape - don't ask - to keep it protected when not in use and although I don't use it often, it's still in perfect shape.

Pros: small, quality optics
Cons: rubber eye piece flimsy/odd

GOLDEN EYE MONOCULAR

by Legacy Reviewer, from CA, United States Written on December 31, 2008
This lightweight (0.8oz) monocular is ideal for the ultralight backpacker. I've had one for several years now and it has traveled hundreds of miles including the length of the John Muir Trail. I keep it handy in a pouch on my shoulder strap and use it often to examine the trail ahead, view wildlife or other interesting distant features.
Pros: Compact, light weight
Cons: None
