I have had several knives with assist opening over the last 30+ years (including several SOGs and Kershaws). None of those ever had any issues with the mechanism.

After reading and watching positive reviews of the Benchmade Fact and that it is made in the USA, I was really looking forward to receiving it.

However, out of the box, this knife hangs up when opening.

Frankly, for this much money and all the positive reviews, I expected a bit more quality control.

I know I could fiddle with lubricating it and adjusting the screws, or send it in to Benchmade to correct it, but why wasn't this at least operated once before boxing. And, why would I have to wait several weeks for Benchmade to fix this when it should have been done right in the first place.

The knife arrived fairly dry which may have contributed to the issue but that's a quality control issue as far as I am concerned. Very disappointing!

Lastly, I do note it was in brand new shape and that the quality is exceptional.

This knife is pretty good for carry because it’s very slim and compact despite having a long blade. The blade very thin and nice for slicing. The handle scales are kind of abrasive/sharp and chew up your pants pockets.
