I don't live in the safest neighborhood in Wyoming, so it's important that I have a firearm very close to me at all times. For years I've slept with a S&W 1911 under my pillow, but between that, the attached suppressor and the 3 extra magazines (plus the cold Wyoming winter) it caused unholy strain on my neck. I saw this holster on OpticsPlanet and I won't lie (my wife hates it when I do, and she monitors all of my internet posts due to a court order. She's also my P.O. of sorts, but that's too complicated to discuss here) my immediate reactions were negative. The holster moves the gun about 10 extra inches away from me, and if someone silently breaks into my house in the middle of the night and then trips the alarms I have on my bedroom door, that is precious time I waste getting my hand from bed to gun to drawn.
Luckily, I talked to Bucky down at the gun store and he offered to put me into a training course involving "non-traditional pistol drawing for self defense," and it was at a reasonable fee. So thank you Blackhawk for saving my neck (literally) and thank you Bucky's Guns & Tobacco for showing me how to draw, load and fire quickly from my bedside holster.
Yours in Faith
Pros: My neck doesn't hurt when I wake up, and neither does my head.
Cons: Gun is further away.
