Legacy Reviewer's Review of Browning Sporter Fitted Gun Case 1422109408

This case is not as it appears. I needed a case for my BT-99. I called browning and asked them if the case would fit my bt99 with 34" barrel. The tech I talked to said unequivocally "yes", it would fit. When it arrived, sure enough the long barrel fit in the case (broken down). The problem is that the convoluted foam and the thickness of the gun components are a poor match. Closing the case with the broken down gun in it actually distorted the case. Not only that but I must leave the gun in a hot car occasionally, and even on 72 degree sunny day the warmth buildup in the car caused the glue which holds the leather trim to the case to soften and let go. The main hinge on the case is leather. The trim is leather. That's fine, but there is only glue holding the trim AND THE LEATHER HINGE to the wooden frame of the case. When it softened, everything started moving, and this was made worse by the "stuffed" nature of the bt99 in the case. The trim started coming off and the hinge looked like it would not hold the case together if I picked it up. To fix it, I had to cut the peaks of the foam out where they contacted the gun components, and then I had to drill pilot holes and screw #4 and #6 screws (1/2 inch long) along the top and bottom hinges and along the top of the front and side trim. 78 screws in all. PITA. I should have returned the case. Other guns may be fine in it, but my bt99 made it look like a very cheap and ill fitting case. Personally I think browning products are high quality but this case is pretty crappy and not worth the money.
Pros: Looks
Cons: Construction, durability
