The bracket does swivel on the z-axis independently of the ball joint. It can be a little hard to attach the bracket to a tripod and then loosen and retighten the ball joint without loosening on tripod. Can lock swivel with top washer.
Pros: Compact, sturdy
Cons: Can be awkward to use
