Most Helpful Positive Review Excellent Scope for the Money!
I own a Leupold Mark 4 8.5-25x50mm LR/T M1 Illum. Reticle mounted on a Barrett Model 95 50BMG and a Nikon Monarch 5-20x44SF mounted on a Savage 300 Win Mag. an have used many other scopes over the years and this BSA is impressive for the money, its mounted on a Savage 93R17BTVS, ROYAL JACARANDA LAMI...

Most Helpful Negative Review NOT AS EXPECTED
I know bsa aren't the best scopes available because I have 3 of them. But this sweet 17 6-18x is very flimsy feeling. If you want target turrets do NOT get this scope. These turrets don't lock, take very little effort to adjust, and stick way out which makes them prone to losing zero. spend another...

Good scope for the price.

by Ken, from OR, United States Written on October 28, 2019
Works well on the Savage 17. Easy to sight in and get on paper. For the price it has good optics. I have hit the bullseye at 200 yards consistently. Suggest you keep the sun shade on the scope. Mounting was simple.
Best Used for:
  • 17 caliber rifles

This is a nice scope for the price. Clarity is good. I have several BSA scopes and they are the most reliable of the "budget priced" scopes that I have owned. The side focus feature is really nice. These scopes prevail where others fail.

BSA Sweet 17 is sweet

by Rick, from TX, United States Written on April 19, 2016
Nice scope, good price. Clear optics and I really like the bullet grain calibrated turret.
The packaging was great and delivery was fast. I had my doubts about a BSA scope but I have been very satisfied so far with the quality and appearance. Thanks Optics Planet.

Sweet 17 hmr scope

by Mauser98, from NY, United States Written on March 4, 2016
Good scope for the money haven't fully tested everything but sighted in at 100yards fine and is holding good groups so am happy. You have to keep still why your at max zoom or the scope blacks out it's a lil annoying but so far that's the only negative I have.

BSA Optics Matte Black Sweet 17 6-18X40 w/Side Focus/Standard Duplex Reticle S17-618X40SP

by William Moss, Verified Owner from KS, United States Written on December 30, 2015
Anybody that does not consider buying this affordable scope to use with a 17 HMR rifle is missing out on a wonderful symbiotic relationship between shooter, rifle, and optics. The ease in which just minute adjustments on this scope can delivery the user great accuracy at all distances.

I have owned three of these and in all cases they were pretty well dialed in right out of the box. A 22LR or Magnum load is no problem, with just a minor adjustment you can go between 22 or .17 loads effortlessly. With the latest .17 ammo that preforms better then it's predecessor, this scope has been designed to interface beautifully with it.

I have used this scope on my Savage .17, and the latest Savage .17 semi automatic rifle recently offered for sale. It also performs well on my Henry Rifles, 22LR, 22Magnum, and .17. It's almost as easy as just removing the scope from one rifle and mounting it on a second rifle. Little or no adjustments needed.

Mounted this scope on a Savage A17 17hmr rifle and love it. Its a tack driver at 100 yards. Works well out to 250 yards. It will help do the job on little critters.

I would recommend this scope for any 17hmr rifle.
Pros:
  • Priced well.
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • hunting
  • target shooting 200 yards and greater

BSA Sweet 17 6x18

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from IN, United States Written on July 23, 2013
I haven't put it through its paces yet, but I went to the range and was put up dime size groupings at 42 ft. with a Savage Arm 93r17 rifle. Can't wait to stretch it out to 100yds to see what it really does.
Pros: Quality of materials that make the scope are good, simple instructions,
Cons: A little hazy at max magnifcation

Decent rimfire scope

by Legacy Reviewer, from PA, United States Written on July 13, 2011
This is a fairly good little scope, I have it on my high end 22 mag rifle and I find the range settings to almost match up very close out to 200yds, only issue is that the clarity past 150yds isn't the best, you may want to consider looking at Barska varmint scopes or rimfire scopes for the price but I cant confirm the quality of those.
Pros: low price, decent quality
Cons: Not so clear past 150yds

Lots of squinting

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on January 7, 2011
I have not tried this scope out past 100 yards yet.
The optics are fairly bright.
The problem is that you need to have your eye positioned PERFECTLY when shooting. There is very little variance when acquiring the target which means a lot of squinting, at least in my case.
Pros: Price
Cons: Eye relief

Pros: value packed
Cons: finicky about mounts on the Savage model 9e
