Needed for back up ammo if you've fired all the magazines on you, and gives peace of mind. It will hold many different calibers, I use it for .223., 7.62x39, 30-30, and .308 rounds, although it could be used for larger caliber handgun rounds, such as the .50, .44, and .45 caliber rounds.
