JDM5LugHatch's Review of Bulldog Cases & Vaults Hard Sided Nylon 40" X 14" Rifle Tactical Case Black for AR 15 BD595

I debated and read a lot of reviews regarding both the Bulldog AR case and the Patriot AR case. In the end I decided to go with the Bulldog and on special for $58 shipped you really can't beat it.

The Pro's

It fits my 16" barrel AR perfect. I had to cut around the handguard as I have an added grip to it. There's a lot of room in this case if you want to make some additional cuts. Nice low profile and holds 3 30rd Pmags with no mods. Unfortunately, 40rd. magazines will require additional cuts in the foam. Nice fuzzy dice type lining on the top and bottom. Great for transporting to and from the range....

The Con's

It's somewhat heavy. The shell isn't made of a plastic or polymer type material like I believe the original model was. Instead it's made of a thin composite wood material similar to that of peg board or wood paneling which is then wrapped in a matte black tape to make it look like plastic. The top and bottoms on the original were a metal plate according to a few youtube and original customer reviews. Here we have that same garbage composite. The foam is cheap but to be expected and this is where the Patriot Case would crush it.

Closing

This is a great product for those that are looking for a "fitted" type of case for under $75. One that will transport their AR to the range and back safely. If you are thinking that this is going to be replacement to a pelican you are wrong. It probably won't "travel" well at all. Guns should be kept in safes (good ones) and not stored in bags or cases. Period.
