MattP's Review of Burris Fullfield E1 2-7x35mm Rifle Scope
This is my first Burris and I'm very impressed. Construction is absolutely top-notch and the glass is clear. Adjustments are solid and it zeroed quickly and has held a zero.
The etched reticle immediately stuck me as thoughtful and innovative. In daylight it works perfectly. So why not a 5-star review. Here's why: In less than bright sunlight, the reticle has two drawbacks. First, because the crosshairs do not extend to the edges of the lens, if you have your reticle centered over a dark object you have no points of reference on the lens edge, off target, as you would with a conventional crosshair. Not a deal-breaker but you should be aware of it. Also, because the reticle is very fine, the problem over dark targets in low light is exacerbated, and then not helped by the lack of a full crosshair for reference.
If I only used this scope in bright daylight I would LOVE it. As it stands, more than half my hunting/shooting is in low light and while I want to love this scope, I merely like it. It's not so much a fault of the scope but rather the needs I have for my application. Don't hate an elephant because it's not a giraffe. Now, if Burris made this EXACT scope in an illuminated reticle version, LOOK OUT!
