Great optic, even better mount - Burris FastFire AR-F3 Flattop Sight

I received a Burris FastFire III as part of the rebate program earlier this year. At the time I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with it. I didn't have any handguns I could use it on, and I've never been fond of the 45 degree red dot mounts (Always found them too slow for CQB, especially when mounted on a weapon with a heavier optic.). I came across the AR-F3 mount and was intrigued.

The red dot screws into the mount like it would any other picatinny mount. The mount sits perfectly for an absolute co-witness and has protective ears around the red dot. The overall footprint of the optic system is ridiculously small and it adds almost nothing to your overall weight. I'm currently running this as my primary optic on a 16 inch carbine and over been very pleased with it.

There is also a tool compartment under the red dot. There is a wrench and a torque wrench to secure the base and make any adjustments. I made the mistake of popping the whole unit out, despite it being glued in. Didn't damage anything, but my first trip to the range and the tool compartment slowly worked itself out under recoil. A little glue and the issue was fixed.

Overall I'm very impressed with this set-up. While the FastFire III may not run all that well in the snow or rain (but nothing that can't be fixed with a small cloth), this mount provides a great option to run this optic.
