pigslapper's Review of Burris BTC 50 1x50mm Thermal Clip-on Monocular
I've never owned a thermal before purchasing the Burris BTC 50. It came recommended by a couple fellow shooting enthusiasts who had them and liked them.
I liked the idea of having a handheld device for use when not shooting. I also settled on it because of the price point.
The BTC 50 is everything its advertised to be. Clips on to your scope easily and the scope is still zeroed. I don't even put the rubber eyepiece back on, just use the adaptor, that way, its easy and fast to just slide onto the rifle scope if your using it for a handheld.
So far it has worked out well. I did have an issue with the screen tumbling, but it came back on line after removing and replacing the batteries. I need to contact tech support to make sure there are no problems with the unit. It has not happened again in two weeks since.
I do think that they should send 4 rechargeable batteries with the unit. They send a charger and everything else, but no batteries. And by the way, these things eat batteries like crazy. Haven't tried the 3 hour battery life claim yet, but I'm betting you can't get 3 hours out of a set. So if you are out at night to get some good out of it, bring plenty of batteries.
I ordered by phone and I could not be happier with the treatment I was given by the sales staff. Very helpful, courteous, and happy!. Cool part was- I called back a couple weeks later when I noticed that their scope adaptors were in stock. Same person helped my and was the same helpful, courteous, and happy person. Amen to her.
