BIGJMO's Review of Burris Veracity Rifle Scope w/ Ballistic E1 FFP Reitcle - 5-25x50mm

Got this to use shooting prairie dogs. Problem with ballistic reticles on more common second focal plane scopes is that the vast majority of them only work at maximum magnification. This makes it difficult to find prairie dogs because the field of view is so small at max mag range of most varmint-specific scopes. The front focal plane of this scope solves that problem, because with the FFP design, the holdover marks represent the same distance regardless of the magnification setting. First trip to the range showed the picture to be very good, but slightly lower quality (mostly darker) than a Leupold VX-3 6.5-20. The reticle was thin enough to see the 1" squares of the target at 300 yards without obscuring it, at 25x. I haven't spent enough time to know exactly where each holdover hits, and my range only goes to 300 yards, so final confirmation will occur on a prairie dog town this summer. Overall happy with it as it's the cheapest decent quality FFP varmint scope out there. It is quite a large scope, but that's not problem on a long range target/prairie dog gun which will mostly be sitting on a rest during shooting. Had to use the LaRue Tactical SPR-E LT139 instead of their standard LT-104 to get it far enough forward to operate the charging handle and shoot NTCH.
Pros:
  • front focal plane
  • crisp adjustments
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • long range prairie dog shooting
Would Recommend: Yes
