BCKINCADE's Review of Bushnell AR Optics 300 Blackout 1-4x24 Rifle Scope
Researched plenty of reviews before buying two of these “on the cheap,” sub $160 for my family to use but was left looking for better quality. The glass is clear but it does have fish eye. The PCL lever is awesome I admit, especially ease of use for my kids. Biggest complaint so far is the first focal plane(ffp) paired with the low led lighting. The illumination at the highest power setting of 11 completely washes out in soft daylight. I spent an overcast day with two of these and the illumination was NOT visible. The deal breaker for me is the reticle is so small at 1x that it’s hard to see without daylight illumination. Bushnell should have made these with daylight brightness or made the scopes with a second focal plane instead. If you don’t care about the brightness or the very small reticle at 1x then it’s still a good scope at sub $160 imo. If you’re looking for daylight illuminated good to great quality budget friendly scopes then consider Shepherd Scopes 1-4 Salvo,(USA made with Japanese glass)at $250 or maybe the Vortex Strike eagle 1-6,(made in China) at $299. When considering the Vortex 1-8 at 8 power it loses its picture clarity but the 1-6 stays clear and the 1-8 is $100 more
Pros:
- Cheap
Cons:
- FFP reticle too small paired with poor daylight illumination
Best Used for:
- Low budget builds
