For someone who cannot afford a nice 35mm camera with a telephoto lens, this is a great substitute. It's difficult to tell when you're in sharp focus when viewing through the LCD screen, which you must to take a picture, so, you cannot be sure you're in sharp focus. Hopefully, your subject will sit still long enough for you to make numerous adjustments. With a 4 Gig card, you can take as many pictures as you like. Yesterday, a cooperative mourning dove allowed me to snap over 180 shots. From those, I could pick the very best. The depth of what is in focus is very narrow, maybe 6 inches; twigs in front and behind a bird in a tree are out of focus; you have to nail it. For the money, it's pretty darn good.
Pros: Takes a decent picture
Cons: LCD screen is not extremely detailed
