Reekax's Review of Bushnell TrophyXLT 3 - 12x56 Illuminated 4A Matte 30mm Rifle Scope

Bought this scope for low light to night time hog hunting rifle. The problem with all of the inexpensive illuminated scopes that I have seen is that they are too bright to use on hogs in the dark of night. With those scopes, the illumination in the tube on the will wash out your target. Do not confuse the capibility of this scope with those other low cost models! It works great! The illumination can be turned down to an almost imperceptible level illuminators such as that found on those scopes costing much more IE: Leupold, Trijicon, etc.. The illumination on this one is also just a small dot in the center of the cross hairs as found on the Leupold VXR series, and not the cross hair itself being illuminated as is depicted on the bushnell website. Per the Bushnell factory rep., this "E" model has fully coated 3200 series optics for greater light gathering transmission than did the earlier version. With it's 30mm tube, 56mm objective, and 3200 series coated lenses, it does an exceptional job of gathering light. In my honest opinion, if you can live with the short eye relief on this model, Bushnell has hit a home run with this scope. Great value for the money. I do wish they would improve the quality of the retical adjustments though. I do not like plastic knobs here.
Pros: 30mm tube, 56mm objective, superb exit pupil numbers, bright in low light, great illumination adjustment
Cons: 56mm objective, short eye relief, and short tube make it difficult to mount on some applications. Don't like the plastic reticle adjustment tabs.
