Legacy Reviewer's Review of Bushnell Zoom Dot Tactical Red Dot Sight

Originally sold as Millet Zoom-Dot(for more $) with intentions for US military contract(doubtful,as aimpont is well established). This did not happen(but was tested in the middle-east and demonstrated it's toughness was true) so it became a Bushnell product and made in Mexico instead of the USA(but with the same exact specifications). SPECS:no wires anywhere to break,no inner tube to come loose,no glued LED to come loose, designed to withstand 2000 G forces, can go 300 feet under water for extended periods, lenses are 5mm thick(the more pressure the tighter they get similar to rolex watch),no rheostat to adjust or worry about(works perfectly for me under ALL lighting conditions including mixed),true 1 MOA dot all the way through true 10 MOA dot(not a click knob that can work loose over time and loose zero),no win/ele knobs to clutter vision or bump to loose zero, temperature range of -50 to 160F,i have not noticed any perceived paralax, electronics easily replaced in the field(does not come with second set though),battery life between 1000 and 10,000 hours(same as older aimpoint M68 but not longer than newer aimpoints),you can decide to leave dot on and close the caps totally and it goes into battery-conserve-mode and it's ready to go when you flip the caps up,caps click in position up and closed positively but with no noise, you can turn dot completely off,5.5" long,8 oz.,30mm tube(lenses are about 26mm),...this is one tough cookie any way you slice it,..YMMV. i've been very happy with mine,it works as advertised. the dot is very visible in strong florida sun, only when you point it at the sun directly does the dot begin to disappear. you can buy a cheaper RDS but you will never buy a tougher one anywhere near this price.opticsplanet gave me very good prompt service,i have no complaints all around. this is a late review,i have had it for about 2 years now. i would buy from opticsplanet again.
Pros: least expensive true-military-tough RDS available
Cons: elevation can not be dailed on-the-fly,but it wasn't designed for this
