Addendum ‘Pros’ comment added to my recommendation: The Civilian is supported by Spyderco’s maintenance and sharpening service. I view the factory professional sharpening service as very important due to the ‘Reverse S’ blade shape and serrations.

First I will reaffirm for potential buyers that the Civilian is NOT an EDC Utility Knife. The Civilian IS an EDC self-defense knife or a collector’s knife due to limited production. The Civilian has razor sharp teeth, deploys smoothly, and locks like a bank vault. The G-10 scales have a quality feel and while being a large folder the Civilian is well-balanced and easily concealed. The Civilian is built in Japan employing excellent VG-10 stainless steel for the ‘Reverse S’ blade. Fit & finish are outstanding. I recommend viewing online videos demonstrating application of the ‘Reverse S’ blade shape.
