Shiny and functional, if only they sold the trigger by itself

Written on Apr 18, 2025

These parts match the same finish found on the Rainbow P365x and P365 380 that Sig currently offers. Those firearms however do not include the rainbow finish trigger found in this kit. Sig does not sell the rainbow trigger by itself (despite selling other P365 triggers as standalone items) so if you want that trigger this kit is your only option.

At some point Sig redesigned the takedown lever to hold the 6 Oclock position and this kit's takedown lever is of that newer design. My old P365 was purchased in the first year or two of introduction and is of the original design that just slaps back into the 3 Oclock position while you're messing with it. I'm not certain when that new design happened but it is a thankful addition that this kit provides.

The kit comes with no instructions so if youre going to handle the install yourself i recommend Sig Guy on YouTube for his video that gets into the details. As it is, if you purchased the Rainbow P365 it's nice to have this whole kit to have the trigger that matches but also includes the Rainbow mag release if you wanted to have a matching mag release on a different sized grip module to swap the FCU into.

Looks like an upgrade, no tangible benefits

Was looking for an "XL" sized grip module for my regular P365. I liked the look and ideas behind the Wilson Combat WCP365 XL grip: the beaver tail, texture that goes all the way up to the slide, beveled magwell, option for tungsten weights. In practice however those characteristics didn't manifest in any noticeable benefits. I tried various configurations from 7 yards, 5 shots each in 5 seconds. First tried the WCP365 XL with the tungsten weights, then the WCP365 without the weights, then the standard P365X grip module followed by the same in reverse order. My best group was a 1.83" minus a flyer with the regular P365X grip and my worst was a 4.40" minus a flyer with the WCP365 without the tungsten weights. My averages were 4.01" with the WCP365 and weights, 3.73" with the WCP365, and 2.695" with the regular P365X frame. The tungsten weights themselves sit loose in the frame and is recommended by Wilson Combat to be dabbed in grease so they don't rattle. Perhaps rattling around is part of the reason for the group sizes I'm seeing out if the WCP365/Weights combo. The grip itself also didn't particularly sit well in my hand. The WCP365 is more "oval" than the standard P365 grips "squarishness". You'd think a rounder shape would be helpful but the extra length hits wrong where my fingers bend around it. Combine that with the grip texture on the sides having a very "high and low" type texture it felt like i wasn't making as much contact with the frame as the standard P365 frame.

Solid frame with some precautions

Picked this up as part of a 10/22 Charger build. The Midwest Industries all metal chassis looked simple, well thought out, and would bring up the Chargers capabilities to something greater than maybe it's supposed to be. I'm working with an 8 inch Charger so I figured the 8 inch chassis would be a perfect fit. Midway measures the top of the handguard so it's 8 inch handguard is the total length of the top of the handguard that goes clear back to the reciever. This resulted in the handguard being too long by about 1.15 inches. A 10inch 10/22 Charger would've avoided this issue but for me it started the hunt for a blast forwarding device. Midwest Industries advertises the inner diameter of the handguard as 1.29 inches but measuring it myself i couldn't figure out how they came to that conclusion. The actual inner diameter is 1.18inches by my measurements. There's a small shelf/lip at the end of the handguard that measured a 1.27 inches diameter but that shelf/lip is only .19 inches deep which isn't going to do a lot for muzzle device selection. I took Midwest Industries word for it anyways and ordered a KAK Industries 1/2-28 Micro flash can which would've been the perfect mix of size/weight/price/functionality... if it fit. Turns out the KAK Industry flash can is advertised at a very true 1.2inches in diameter and does not clear the Midwest Industries chassis handguard. Going thinner I ended up ordering a CMMG Zeroed linear comp which fit just fine, added some unnecessary perso
