Wheeler Upper Vice Block Clamp

The vice block fits many different versions of the mil spec uppers like a glove, with little or no wiggle room. Works great for torquing a barrel nut on a budget, or if you are only building one or two guns (aka- not made for heavy usage, although I'm sure it could handle quite a few builds). The gas tube alignment tool works well (if the barrel nut needs to be timed), and the main reason I bought this kit on sale. The workmanship is top notch on both pieces, and at this price, why not?

My current two Spikes BCGs are circa 2015 and 2018, both having the C158 bolt. Seems to be a common pattern now- a lot of companies are switching to 9310 bolts (and many are still selling them as "C158" bolts). At least in this case 9310 is printed on the bolt, so points for that honesty. Time will tell if all of these inferior parts flooding the market will cause issues and failures in the near future.

Best Barrel/ Best Price

If you build, you know it's hard to find quality for a good price (and something you'd stake your reputation on). This is my go to for all 16" builds. I have never had issues with head-spacing (Using Cryptic, Toolcraft and Spikes bolts). M4 design/ shape helps line up the gas block, making it easier. Feed ramps have all been good- no buffing or polishing needed. The chrome lining has not seemed to impact accuracy, as have some other barrels. Get it, you won't be disappointed.

Spikes Tactical 5.56 HPT/MPI Bolt Assembly
Did an inspection of the bolt. Great coating, MPI tested, etc. But... when I pulled off the extractor, the extractor pin had to be hammered out. Figured out that it was a bad/ wrong size spring, and the extractor had been forced on. Replaced with the correct size spring and all was good. Four stars since all good quality parts except for one spring and rubber ring. Just goes to show you always inspect anything that makes things go boom!
