This is a budget friendly scope mount but don't let that fool you.
It is well constructed, adjustments to obtain a tight grip on your rail are simple and it holds a good zero from detachment to reattachment and is compatible for 30mm scopes and 1 inch scopes (with provided adapters.)
This is my second one and i would not hesitate to purchase one again if i had the need for it.
There are a lot of companies making replacement/conversion barrels but what I ran across with most was the disclaimer "minor fitting may be required." I don't live in an area where there is a competent gun smith so I generally try to go with Sig Sauer parts and have yet to be disappointed.
This barrel dropped right in and functioned exceptionally well. 200 rounds down range and no FTF's, stove pipes, or malfunctions of any nature. Good groups 2-3 inches at 7 yards. Contacted Wolff Gun Springs (great company) to ask if I needed a different recoil spring and was assured that the .40 cal and .357 cal recoil spring are both rated at 20 pounds.
If you are thinking about this barrel you can't go wrong.
I have a Bushmaster Varminiter from the 90's. One of the first AR's with custom features available for the everyday guy. The only problem I had with this rifle is that I cold never quite get the scope mounted quite forward enough. No matter what I tried I could get close, but no cookie, and keeping an eye on the target was always a chore because I was always losing the sight picture because of poor alignment. Tried various rings and risers but the basic problem was always the same, I would run out of rail before I could get a good sight picture.
With the Leupold Mark 2 the problem was solved. It seems as if it were made specifically for my rifle. Works great, height is perfect and with the extended front ring I can place the mount in the proper position. And from a vanity stand point it complements my Leupold 6-18x40 VX3 quite well.
