What a waste of time?

Written on Oct 17, 2020

Tried the product and was never to get a good fit. Talk to factory expert and made additional modifications. The unit still had alignment problems. Even after sending to the factory the the unit was not repairable. The alignment issue were not related to Optic Planet. I had to find another product for deer season.

Mounting with a base with a Cant.

Written on Apr 29, 2019

The mounting appeared simple and straight forward. Mounting it the first time I noticed that there was a cant on the rear base that I was not able to shim out to keep the base flat. It seems that the rear tightening screw will move it where it wants to go.

Talked to the factory service department and recommended mounting the bases separately and grinding the rear mount to get it to lay flay. I am not able to get it to lay flat. Presently, I have shimmed the rear base to .060 in order to eliminate the gap below the rear base.

This is all before adjusting the zero. I have attempted to center the windadge to the middle of scope adjustment. It seems that the 0.060 starts me out with a disadvantage.

My original objective was to create more clearance between the bolt handle and scope for a Ruger M77 left hand. I was using the max dimension factory mounts and hands will not clear the scope/rings.

I will more than likely return it to the factory for them to check dimensions.
