Wooduck50's Review of Carlson's Benelli Crio Cremator Waterfowl Choke Tube

My use of Carlson's chokes began sometime in the mid 90's. I used a Browning Citori exclusively for hunting and clays. Shot gunning is my primary hobby. I shoot clays year round either skeet, sporting clays or just in the field at home and would consider myself addicted to wing shooting. Ducks, doves, crows whatever flys. The citori was flawless Except with my duck load Remington Nitro Steel #3. Patterns were poor at best. So I started experimenting with aftermarket chokes. Carlson's chokes solved my problem and I used those same couple chokes for the next many years with much success. About 6 years ago I started using a Benelli SBE2. The factory chokes are very good. However I had become loyal to Carlson's so I ordered chokes in the same constrictions that served me so well in my Browning. They were just as great and consistent as those I had depended on for many years before. I couldn't be happier with those chokes. I wasn't looking to change anything then as things go I saw one YouTube video that turned into many weeks of choke research online. I convinced myself perhaps newer technology might give me the patterns I already trust with denser cores. I had almost convinced myself Muller Chokes was the first I'd try. There were Great reviews then not so great ones. You don't have to read a lot of any review to determine if the author's review has merit or not. Of all the chokes I read about I actually elected to try first the brand I already had loyalty to that seemed it would provide what I was hoping to find. Carlson's Cremator Close Range did not disappoint! I'm so glad I got the itch to improve something I was already happy with.

I use Federal Multi Purpose 7 1/2's at 1200 fps for EVERYTHING I shoot except ducks and have for many years. For ducks Remington Nitro Steel 3", #4 , 1 3/8 oz at 1300 fps. I have shot both through IC 90% of the time. The surprise is even though the Cremator choke is a couple thousandths Larger than my IC in the same gun it patterns considerably tighter in the core. Beautifully and evenly distributed with very few "clumps" of shot. This was the 7 1/2 shot at 30 yards I used a 16" circle inside the pattern sheet to better calculate core density. Averaging 5 shots from each choke I averaged (Consistently) a 32% increase of pellets within the 16" core circle with the Carlson's Cremator CR vs my Carlson's IC. With almost identical distribution in the outer fringes of the pattern from both chokes. VERY NICE! The Nitro Steel #4 shot was so dense it will without question produce clean kills on the ducks but it might prove to devastating at close range on game to be eaten. Will have to wait untill next season to determine for sure.

Very Pleased with a time proven product that just got even BETTER!
